The final light of the day still touches the far off blue hills.
All the colours of the day
The colours of the sea , the sky, the sunset and the daylight all combine in this drawing.
Late afternoon
The distant hills in the late afternoon light.
Colour along the field edge
Wild flowers bring a splash of colour along the field edge
All is still
When the wind is still and the sea seems motionless a total calm descends on the beach.
The sunrise breaks into the storm
The sunrise blazes through the dark clouds of the receding storm leading to a fine day ahead.
A rough sea and a wild sky
When the west winds blow hard the rough sea and the wild sky merge into one confused but beautiful scene.
Rain passes over
This is a ‘work in progress’, a more distant view of the fields of ripe oil seed rape growing on Halsall Moss. I need to live with this for a few days before making further progress.
Wild flowers along the field edge
Two pastel drawings of wildflowers growing along the edge of the corn fields on Halsall Moss.

Sunsets
Living on the west coast gives us the wonderful spectacle of the sunset, often totally hidden by banks of grey cloud but frequently exploding with colours, the reds, oranges and yellows contrasting sharply with the deep indigo and sky blues that gradually come to dominate the scene as the sun disappears below the far horizon.
