Eight pastel drawings based on the huge views across the beachs of Southport, Birkdale and Ainsdale. Famous for its vast expanse of sand at low tide these beaches provide and exercise in the horizontal!

The Ainsdale Sand Dunes National Nature Reserve is a mix of open dunes and pine woods. I walk here every week doing a voluntary job for Natural England and enjoy seeing the changes that occur season by season and in the very different weathers that happen along the Sefton coast. The dune slacks are dry wind-blown hollows in the sand dunes providing a habitat for the specialist animals and plants that survive in this environment.
The vivid colours and shapes have intrigued me for many years and I have recently begun to try to represent this unique landscape in an abstract way in soft pastel on slightly textured paper.
